Overview

Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? Pioneer Metal Finishing is looking for a Production Team Lead to guide, train, and motivate our hourly team members while driving quality, safety, and efficiency on the shop floor. This role also includes key responsibilities in coordinating process line operations and ensuring technical excellence.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and coach hourly employees in all aspects of production, including techniques, work instructions, quality assurance, and plant operations.
  • Coordinate all loads with the shift supervisor to maximize tank efficiency and ensure all loads follow their specific process recipes.
  • Inspect loads and investigate any deviations from standard procedures.
  • Maintain a general understanding of process line equipment such as rectifiers, pumps, chillers, computers, and cranes.
  • Use dry erase boards to document important updates and observe procedural changes.
  • Communicate effectively with other shift operators to ensure consistency and smooth transitions between shifts.
  • Share knowledge and experience with team members and question methods when necessary to promote continuous improvement.
  • Process special loads with proper communication between Quality Assurance, supervisors, and line operators.
  • Ensure contact pads on work bars and tanks are clean for proper electrical contact and load rectification.
  • Report equipment issues to the shift supervisor for maintenance requisitions.
  • Lead tank maintenance teams on a rotating schedule.
  • Set the pace and energize your team using company performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Partner with supervisors and HR on performance reviews, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support labor planning and adjust staffing levels to meet production demands.
  • Lead onboarding and cross-training efforts to build a flexible, skilled workforce.
  • Troubleshoot process or tooling issues and apply problem-solving tools to identify root causes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation and forms.
  • Promote and enforce safety policies and hold team members accountable for compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Demonstrate leadership traits that foster a respectful, high-performing, and engaged workplace.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to sharp tools, heavy carts, heat, noise, and chemicals.
  • Must be able to lift 30–50 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to differentiate color variance.
  • Use of PPE required in certain areas.

 

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
