Overview

Job Summary

 

This position is responsible for designing and fabricating efficient tooling to maximize efficiencies on the production lines. Collaborates regularly with tooling supervisor, production support, and other production leaders to ensure specifications are accurate and quality meet the customer requirements and expectations.

 

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

  • Designs and fabricates tooling to maximize load density and efficiency while ensuring safety of all personnel and quality of the customers product is maintained.
  • Collaborates with production and direct supervisor to determine daily priorities, maintenance schedules, and procedures for special tooling and basic production needs.
  • Consistently provides tooling and load size recommendations for quoting purposes, advises appropriate parties if/when tooling needs cannot be met as expected.
  • Understands how to use basic hand tools and specialized equipment such as drills, welding equipment, grinders, and various cutting tools and equipment, as well as measuring tools.
  • Partners with quality in the development of SOPs and participates in cost reduction by notifying appropriate personnel of irregularities and machine malfunctions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Objectives

  • Facilitates consistency by ensuring all processes and procedures are followed appropriately for all assigned areas.
  • Contributes to safety by keeping work areas and equipment clean, responding accordingly to alarms, and escalating situations as outlined by facility guidelines and practices.
  • Supports all staff in assigned areas by completing necessary documentation, aiding teammates where able, and communicating effectively at all levels of the organization.

 

Work Environment

  • Sharp parts & tooling, heavy carts, occasional temperature fluctuations and humidity changes, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, and compressed air (must use hearing protection).
  • Repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to identify color variances.
  • Potential splash exposure near process lines; various chemicals used in process.

 Education/Qualifications

  • Fabrication and welding experience is required.
    • Mig & Tig (aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong math skills and attention to detail.
